Conference website

In 2007, the NZ Ecological Society conference returned to the theme of its 1986 conference, "Moas, mammals, and climate in the ecological history of New Zealand", by reviewing and synthesizing what we now know about past changes to NZ's fauna and flora. The conference included a full day of talks on this theme. The audio from all talks on this first day, all by invited speakers, are now available as the first New Zealand Ecological Science podcasts.

The conference programme, abstracts, and slides from selected talks, are now available on the Past Conferences webpages.

Past New Zealand Ecological Society Conferences
Ecology across the Tasman, a joint conference of the NZ Ecological Society and the Ecological Society of Australia, was held on 28 August – 1 September 2006 at Victoria University of Wellington. Abstracts from this and previous conferences can be found at the Past Conferences webpages.
INTECOL downunder in 2009
5th SETAC World Congress,3-7 August 2007, Sydney Australia
The 10th International Congress of Ecology (INTECOL) will be held in Brisbane in August 2009. INTECOL is an international society founded in 1967 which has organised major scientific meetings, in particular the International Congresses of Ecology.

The Brisbane meeting will be the first INTECOL congress to be held in the southern Hemisphere. The bid was fully supported by the Ecological Society of Australia and the New Zealand Ecological Society. It will likely include fieldtrips in NZ as well as Australia.

INTECOL promises to be a great opportunity for NZ ecologists to attend a major international conference. For more information on INTECOL 2009, visit www.intecol10.org.
